Rellik by Teresa Mummert...Review by Kathy

~Blurb
Rellik Bentley is to die for.

He can have any woman he wants and they will do anything to be with him. He uses and abuses them like drugs and tosses them out with the trash. The only thing he gives a f*ck about is his music. That is, until Ella Lighten walks into his life and stumbles upon one of his darkest secrets. In the midst of doing damage control, he begins to obsess over the mysterious woman who wants absolutely nothing to do with him.
Rellik won’t take no for an answer.

The author did provide an ARC for honest review....

I have been waiting for this book for months, even though it has felt a heck of a lot longer. Dawn and I both read the blurb and POW, we had to read it. I had all these preconcieved ideas as to what and who Rellik was, and  I was shocked that the author totally blew those away. This book was nothing like I thought I wanted to read, it was so much better.

Where to begin. I will start with the band. Ryder "RELLIK" Bentley, Trigger, Hangman, and PhanTOM. I love the names of the band. The names intrigued me, the dynamics with the band members, the groupies, and the idea that no one seems to care that he uses them and then walks away.

When we first meet Rellik he is an ASS. I honestly wanted to slap the stupid right on out of him. He then redeemed himself and I wanted to hug the bejeesus out of him. I was constantly flip flopping. Did I like him or hate him? Then he meets Ella and wham bam, he is a man who wants to fight for her. Or does he?

Ella was so strong yet, so broken. She needed that hero but, is he really a hero? The dynamics and chemistry with these two was awesome. The pull on each other was palpable. I wanted them to mean something but I was worried they were both just going to be poison for each other.

After running away from an abusive family and being thrown back into foster care, I walked free on a technicality known as adulthood. When you go into the system, it's impossible to escape, but eventually you age and get thrown out with little hope of surviving and becoming a productive citizen. I clung to the stories I had learned as a child. One day the world would right itself, justice would be served, and a hero would save the day. I wasn't that little girl anymore. I was my own goddamn hero, and I was going to make things right.

I couldn't put the book down. I was totally immersed in Rellik and Ella. I had to know what was going to happen next. Then the author again slams my ideas right on out of my mind. She took my emotions and played them like a freaking symphony. I did a complete 180 and was rooting for them, then I was so shocked that I was almost whimpering with the emotions. I loved it.

"Don't do that. Don't look at me with pity."
"You think I pity you? You're one of the strongest fucking women I've ever met. I don't deserve to get to touch you. Not after what happened to you."
"You're the only person I want to touch me."
"You don't mean that." He looked to the ground, the muscles jumping over his jaw, doubt plaguing him.

I don't do spoilers and I honestly want to tell you everything. I can't though, YOU need to read this. YOU need to experience the  pain and the pleasure. YOU need to understand what happened....

"Some people are born this way, unable to control the urge. I was created. I became this on purpose. And it all led to you. Don't you see that? You're the butterfly. You flapped your wings, and the entire universe set us into motion. It was an unstoppable force. I became this for you, before I ever knew you existed," I pleaded with her to understand.

I absolutely loved the book. I wish it had been longer though. I can't believe how many times I was totally thrown. The author did a fantastic job of keeping me enthralled. I kept trying to guess what was next, and I was never even close... I am on my knee's begging Teresa Mummert to write a book for each of the other band members. I have to know what happened to them, why they are the way they are, and how they became who they are now. Please, please, please....I need to know....

I am giving Rellik by Teresa Mummert , 5 full glorious clocks!!!

Alex (A Cold Fury Novel) by Sawyer Bennett ...Review by Dawn

I have to say I went into this with a little bit of trepidation. Not knowing what to expect, I know nothing about hockey. Well I did actually enjoy it! I was happy that it was not a "guide to hockey" type of romance. I really loved Sutton, she is a great leading lady. I mean seriously, she is strong, resilient, loving, and loves her family, even after all the struggles she faced as a child. Her love for her little brother Glenn, was spectacular, I too have a special bond with my little brother, so I appreciated their relationship. I enjoyed the fact that she is humble and trying to do as much as she can to help others. Even if the situation brings up hurtful memories of her childhood. Also, I love me a redhead! Alex , well lets just say he grew on me. I was not his biggest fan. Then you read his story and you understand why he is the way he is. His growth in this story and self realization is spot on. I truly enjoyed that. Chemistry was really perfect and I liked the way it flowed. I wanted to slap Alex for his lack of sharing and his constant shutting down. But it worked for the story. What didn't work for me was, Brandon and Cassie... I wanted more drama with them. But then I caught myself saying, "does this need to happen? Do they need the ex drama, with all the other drama's?" So maybe its not so much that it didn't work for me, maybe I just was left wondering what could have been. And their fathers. I would have liked to know more about them in the epilogue maybe. See that is where I am having an internal issue... Did the story need it? This book is a quick , enjoyable read. I will definitely read more in this series.

4 Clocks for Alex (A Cold Fury Hockey Novel)

I belong to no one.
It’s the way I’ve chosen to live. Master of my own destiny, finding my way through this bullshit thing called life.
I learned from a young age how to get my way. Being a woman isn’t a weakness. It’s the opposite. I’ve spent my life being surrounded by four overbearing brothers, but I’ve never been a wallflower. Independent and unwilling to be tied down, I grabbed life by the balls and lived it to the fullest.
I was enjoying myself, minding my own business at my brothers wedding. Then WHAM.
Ever have a man walk into your life and alter your entire universe? My answer would’ve been no before he tempted me into his bed.
I’m talking about the big damn bang.
Everything that I thought was right, suddenly spins on its axis and bitch slaps me in the face.

ONCE PERFECT SHATTERED PAST BY CECY ROBSON...Review by Dawn

His life was never easy. Hers wasn’t supposed to be this hard. They come from different worlds, but fate lures them together in a way neither expected in Cecy Robson’s raw, steamy series debut—perfect for fans of Monica Murphy and J. Lynn.

Evelyn Preston’s future once looked perfect—until her wealthy father was caught in an embezzlement scandal and took his own life. Alone and struggling to pay her college tuition and bills, Evelyn finds a job as a waitress at the ultra-hip nightclub Excess, where she used to have more in common with the privileged private-school clientele than her fellow staff members. But something attracts her to the sexy six-foot-four bouncer and underground MMA fighter Mateo Tres Santos. Although they’ve led different lives, their troubled pasts bonds them in both survival and love.

Mateo is ex-army who wound up in prison for assaulting the man who harmed his sister. Now he’s feeling the same protective impulse for this petite blond waitress. When Evelyn experiences a panic attack at the club, Mateo comes to her rescue. And when Mateo is wounded shielding her from a brawl, Evelyn returns the favor and comes to his aid.

As their attraction intensifies, Mateo is determined to find out what nightmares are lurking in Evelyn’s past—even if that means tackling his own to save her.

I really enjoyed this story. If you are looking for a story of overcoming family tragedies, pasts that keep haunting you and finding and falling in love with the last person you ever expected to... then this is the book for you.
Get to know Mateo and Evelyn, you will not be sorry you did! ~D~

"Fallen Down Under" by: S.M. Phillips

cover fallen edited

"Fuck." I slam my fist into the desk before me and feel nothing but rage. I need to go after her. I need to explain. "But isn't this what you wanted?" The voice inside my head whispers. "Isn't this a nice easy way out?"
Everything Max has done has always been at a cost to others around him. He wasn't about to make that mistake again. No longer will his selfish ways punish those close to him. Sometimes it's better to have had and lost than to never have had at all.
Finally after what felt like forever, Jess was getting a glimpse of control over her life again and allowed her defences to come crashing down, only to have what it guarded to be crushed once again. Now, on the other side of the world away from her friends, she doesn't know what to do.
Should she stay or should she go?
Is it too late or have they both fallen too far into something that is completely out of their depths?

Meet S.M. Phillips

Welcome to the crazy and hectic life that is me... A fun, loving mum of one special little boy, girlfriend (I'm sure it should be wife by now!!) and an overall crazy, happy go lucky girl from England.
I have always had a passion for reading and writing. Wherever I am, my book reader is never far behind along with a mug of coffee.
I found myself wanting to write from a young age, I have quite a few hidden stories on my computer somewhere, maybe I will have to dig them out and play around with them at some point.
I decided to make the very exciting but also very nerve wracking decision to release my debut 'Escape down under' at the end of 2013 when the ideas in my head got too strong and just wouldn't leave me alone.
Escape down under is now live and Fallen down under is due for release on November 2nd

Where to Buy

I am going to start out by saying that I wanted to read this book but, honestly it was on my back burner. Dawn wanted to know what I thought of the book.  She wanted to know if I was going to review it, if not she was going to do it.
So while she was out of town I decided to go ahead and bump it on my list. Then while getting ready to read it,  I had a long conversation with my niece about the book. She wanted to know why I wanted to read it, my explanation was simply that it was an intriguing paranormal romance. I thought (wrongly) that it was just a "ghost" story, with  a romance in the background. Well smack me upside the head and call me stupid because this book was a SO very much more than that. In fact the paranormal was so in the background that I mostly forgot it.

"There's not one day that has gone by -not one- since the day I found you at Belle's that I've not thought about you. There are times to this day that I still ache for you because that's just how strong my love for you remains. nothing will ever change that."

"I was responsible for you, and I failed. I fucking failed."

This was not just some silly ghost story, it was a fabulous romance that crushed my heart and made me cry. It drew out feelings that I had no defense of, I was so caught up in the book that I was left with a sense of loss when it was over.
From the blurb you are thinking this is the story of Parrish, and in a way it is, but mainly this is the story of Dominic and Karlie.

This is about true love, the mob, and trust. Could you trust the man who says he loves you, but is married to someone else? Oh and his dad is the head of the Mafia family. Would you believe him when he says he will always choose you, over anything and anyone? Would you trust your love for him or would you always wonder? These questions haunt Karlie. There is so much I want to say here, but I hate spoilers.
I am the first person to say I hate cheaters. Dominic didn't feel like a cheater to me, he felt like a man in love. He was trapped in a relationship that was nothing more than appearances. (Trust me) He truly loved Karlie, he was in such an impossible situation. Let me say that this book is not what you are thinking it is, there are so many twists and turns. You will be shell shocked. You will be crying, You will be heartbroken. You will be surprised. You will want to bow down to ANDREA SMITH for her skills in writing a beautifully twisted, loving, slightly paranormal book. I so was not prepared for this book at all, and honestly I read so much I usually am not all that shocked about things in books. This one took all my expectations and slammed them on the floor, stood up and smirked at my stupidity and showed me what an amazing writer can do with words. If I could give you more than 5 clocks I would do so in a heartbeat. I am still reeling from the book. I will be one of the first people in line to get the second in this series. Hopefully it comes out soon.
