Craving Redemption by Nicole Jacquelyn .... review by Dawn

~Blurb~
Asa and Callie had nothing in common. He was an Ace, raised in the club and loyal to it above all else. She was a high school student with braces on her teeth and a narrow view of the world.
They should have never crossed paths.
But when Callie decides to defy her parents, and Asa goes on an errand for the club, their lives collide. He saves her, and she mesmerizes him.

They part believing they’ll never see each other again.

Neither could have predicted the chain of events they’d put in motion.

Now the two have to navigate the dark waters of a relationship built on tragedy and need without drowning in guilt for things outside their control.

How do you love someone when the worst decision of your life was the reason you met them?

Let me start with this... Craving Redemption is (I am sitting here trying not to cuss) so amazingly FAN-FLIPPING-TASTIC!!!!!!!
I was a bit tough on CC, just because I wanted more details! OMG, I loved CR! OK, with all this said here is why...

The prologue had me dying, there is no waiting, it just jumps right in and goes right for what gets me excited about reading. Instant drama!!! No reading for what seems like 5 chapters to get to the "good shit." It picks up where Cody aka, Casper has been shot in CC. Callie is his older sister and Asa's "Grease" lost love. She is on a mission, get Cody away from the Aces, but seeing Asa throws her into a bitch fit of epic proportions.

Then the absolutely most fantastic thing happens, we go back 5 years, back to their first meeting, Callie was 16 and Asa was 20. Events unfold that literally has her clinging to him, begging him to save her. He takes one look at her and feels something deep within him, he has to save her. Making the decision that would haunt them for a very long time.

Loving Asa was the easy part, learning to live with his MC life was going to make or break them. Was Callie strong enough to deal with everything that came with loving a man who was living hours away and put his club first?

I am admit on not giving any spoilers so I am not going to say a lot about the story. I know, I would hate me to! But it is so worth the read. Time just passed, I started it yesterday, woke up a few times during the night to read more...waking at 5 am to dive back in! I finished it at 8 am this morning, and had to rush in an write a review (that will NOT do it justice) to get the word out.

Nicole Jacquelyn, I am so super impressed with this being her second book!  They way she told the story flowed effortlessly. I didn't feel like anything was left out. The characters were easy to understand and the depth she went into with each one was spot on perfect.
I have to say my favorite was Grandma "Gram" Rose. She was tough and sweet and told it exactly like it is! She was the glue to all of these fantastic characters. Callie, Asa, Cody and Farrah. I really freaking loved her!
Events happen that land Callie in the hospital pretty much having a mental breakdown and Gram has had enough... this is one of my favorite exchanges that takes place between Gram and the Psychologist;

" You've been doing it your way for three weeks and this shit isn't helping," Gram thundered. "I don't give a shit what you think I'm going to do this my way and if you've got a problem, I'll just take my granddaughter home with me!" The pretty-haired psychologist murmured something soothingly that I couldn't hear.
"Oh fuck you and your fancy degree!' Gram shouted. "I know her! I've wiped her ass and bandaged her cuts. I'll do what I think's best!"

That had me in tears. My own Grandma was very similar, you did not mess with Eleanor or her family... I loved that it made that connection with me.

I really can not tell you everything I want to, because it would spoil a fantastic story that you all MUST read.  Cody's "Casper" story is next and I am sitting here for once, thanking whoever it may be that I get a break. I am emotionally spent, in the best way possible.

I am giving Craving Redemption, 5 glorious clocks!

Saving Dallas and Making the Cut... by Kim Jones... Partial review by Dawn

Saving Dallas
Making The Cut
by Kim Jones

I am giving myself a personal kick in the ass!
Why did I wait so long to read these? I read every MC book that comes along, why, Dawn why?
I'll tell you why, because I am a person who hates to wait! I want the complete series all at once... Yes, I am very selfish!!!
I am very happy that I told myself to "stop looking at the covers and just read the damn BOOKS" and I  read both in 2 days!
I loved them, like really really loved them.
I decided that I was going to wait until the third book Dallas Forever, coming 2014 to do a full review. But I want you to go get these 2 and read them... the intensity and drama are amazing! Dallas is a strong leading lady. She is bossy, a bitch, thinks very highly of herself, rich and sexy as all get out!

LUKE are you freaking kidding me?
He is so incredibly sexy, sweet, bossy, and calls
Dallas on all her crap! Which she secretly loves.
I believe with everything in me, that there isn't a female alive that Luke couldn't talk out of her panties!!!!!!!!!

The twist and turns in these books are crazy good!
I was shocked when the truth was brought to light and Dallas found out some pretty disturbing things about Luke and people he works for.

I was so physically pained when Dallas sacrificed herself in Making The Cut. It really is amazing writing. Bravo Ms. Jones... Now, quit making me wait, I am dying to get my hands on
Dallas Forever!!!!!

Both books get 5 Clocks from me.....

Forged In Ash by Trish McCallan...reviewed by Kathy Lee-Herbst

-Blurb-

Kait Winchester inherited a special gift from her Arapaho ancestors: she can heal with her touch. And there is no one she would like to get her hands on more than the super-sexy SEAL who seems determined to ignore their off-the-charts chemistry. When the wounded warrior finally seeks her help, she’s ready to nurse him back to health…and into her bed.

Navy SEAL Lieutenant Marcus “Cosky” Simcosky is no stranger to hot water, but recent events have boiled over into one hell of a mess. His team is under investigation for a hostage rescue gone wrong, a crazy female stalker is on his trail, and the last few bullets he took just may sideline him for the rest of his career. The kicker? The one woman who can help him get back on his feet—and has haunted his fantasies for years—is his teammate’s sister. He’s looked but never touched. When his stalker targets Kait, though, Cosky will have no choice but to do whatever is necessary to keep her safe~

I'm going to start off with saying that there is a paranormal aspect to this book and to the first book Forged in Fire. You do not have to read the first book in the series ( but it was an excellent read that kept you on the edge of your seat). I adored the first book and wasn't sure if the second would live up to it. We all know how sometimes that happens....

This book takes place a few months after Forged in Fire ended.** SPOILER ALERT for Forged in Fire. **

Marcus Simcosky, Cos or Cosky to his friends was almost killed in the first book. He has fought his way back but is still having issues with his knee. He has learned from an expert that he may not ever heal fully and that will mean the end of his Seal career. He is willing to do almost anything to get well. Then his teammate tells him an amazing story of his own. His sister helped him when he was told he would never walk again. Maybe she can help Cos too.....

Kait Winchester has crushed on Cos for 5 years, her brother asks her to help him now. Can she help him? She is willing to try anything. If only this crazy lady trying to attack him would go away. She has made 3 attempts on his life. She decides Kait will make a great hostage to get to him.....

"Attacked might be a slight exaggeration.Attempted attack would be more accurate."
What the hell?
"Goddamn it, Kait!" His voice rose with each word until it thundered through the van. "Did she hurt you?"
He was vaguely aware that Zane had pulled the van over to the side of the road, and both he and Rawls had twisted in their seats and were staring at him.
"No, actually, I'm the one who did the damage."
He took a deep breathe, let it out carefully, and worked on slowing his racing heart.
"What happened?" he asked as calmly as he could manage.
"She was waiting for me when I got back to my apartment. She had a knife."
His heart stopped. He could feel it. It literally stopped beating for a second or two. A wave of heat drowned him. He dragged in a couple of deep breathes and grabbed hold of his control. She was obviously fine. In fact, she was pretty damn sassy. That Goddamn Bitch must be long gone.
"How did you get away?" he asked tightly, the calmness a thin veneer.
"I knocked her out."
His hand tightened around the cell. Slowly, oh so slowly, he pulled it from his ear and stared at it in disbelief.
"You knocked her out," he repeated, his voice sounding slow and stupid. He saw Zane and Rawls exchange glances.
"Yeah." She paused and then added in a careful voice, "With my bag of Miracle Whip."
There was another pause, longer this time, and then a giggle burbled down the line. With a hard swallow, he closed his eyes. That last comment had made no sense. She had obviously been more affected by the encounter than she was letting on. He opened his mouth to assure her that they were on their way and would keep her safe. She broke into the silence before he could get the assurance out.
" Oh, thank God. She is waking up. She's been out so long I was getting worried."
The blood froze in Cosky's veins.
"She's what? She's still there?" he roared, jolting forward. "What the hell are you thinking? Get out of there."
Dead space pulsed down the line and then she coughed. 'Ah, yeah. Did I forget to mention that I duct taped her feet and hands? She's not going anywhere."
Of course she had. Son of a bitch.
Cosky bent forward, his fingers so tight they started to cramp and his lungs so tight they started to wheeze.
"Are you alright?" she asked, sounding concerned.
His shoulders started to shake. unable to help himself,Cosky started to laugh.Zane and Rawls exchanged grim glances, a clear indication his laughter sounded more frantic than natural.
"She knocked our crazy lady out and tied her up," he told his worried buddies, knowing they'd see the irony in the situation. She's done , by herself, what the four of them hadn't been able to do together.

I loved that scene. Miracle Whip kicked some ass, who knew it could be almost a lethal weapon. Just goes to show you that anything can be a weapon. This book has plenty of action. Not just the sexual kind either. I love that just when you think you know what is happening in Ms. McCallan's books, she whips out something (miracle whip pun inserted here) new and exciting. This book and series has been a lot of action, comedy, love and romance. All my favorite things rolled into one. Nothing like running from gun toting stalkers, bombs, van's aiming for you, mysterious men who just happen to be in the right place at the right time and Ohhhh don't forget the paranormal aspect. That just makes the books that much better. The sex scenes are HOT and STEAMY. (In more ways than one).

I am giving Ms McCallan and enthusiastic 5 clocks. Just please, please, PLEASE write faster. I am anxiously awaiting the next in the series. Oh and guys go get Forged in Fire too. It is well worth it.

Marata Eros The Darkest Joy..... reviewed by Dawn

~BLURB~
“I don’t want my broken fixed. . . .”

Six months ago, Brooke Starr was one impeccable piano performance away from Juilliard. Now, she is lonely, devastated, orphaned . . . seeking solace in a place where the sun never sets and trying to make sense of the dark tragedy that clouds her shattered heart.

There are no coincidences. . . .

Deep-sea fisherman Chance Taylor can’t imagine what his life would be if he’d never taken that midnight stroll to the pier. Had never seen the intriguing, raven-haired girl swan dive into the Alaskan sea. Had never plunged into the icy waters to rescue her . . . and finally felt her electric charge.

As their blazing chemistry consumes them, Chance is determined to save Brooke from her demons. But Brooke knows she must find her own footing. She thinks she’s already lost everything—until the terror of her past catches up with her and threatens all that she has left: her life, her love, and the freedom to choose between drowning in grief and finding joy in the darkness.

I was so excited to read this...Just from the blurb, I was taken in and the story was just amazing. From the very beginning I was grabbed and thrown into this emotional, gripping story.

Brook Elizabeth Starr is one outstanding leading lady. The care taken in writing her emotional struggle is just beautiful. I could actually feel my heart becoming heavy when she decided that she could take no more and dives off the pier. The weight of her tragedy is taking every ounce of joy she has ever felt and being happy for just one day consumes her with guilt.

Chance Taylor, local player who has ever had only one true love...the sea. He is not one to be interested in someone for more than a night. Women want attention and are needy and Chance will let nothing come between him and his time on his boat at sea. He just happens to be at the right place at the right time and takes a leap into the Alaskan sea to save a beautiful stranger.
An undeniable chemistry exists between Brooke and Chance, one that can not be denied. They both feel it, but both want to deny it...until they just can't any longer.

From her landing a fishing job via email, her "hippy" VW van bought sight unseen. To the budding friendships she makes, Brooke is doing everything she can to forget. But once she gets to the cabin her aunt left her and finding a secret doorway...it leads Brooke back to the piano, something she forced herself to give up, because playing took her back to happier times.

Brooke and Chance, take a chance (I know..) with each other that leads to Brooke feeling again and wondering if she has a right to be happy. Chance for the first time in his life is finding happiness off the water. Their chemistry heats up and its explosive! HOTT...
Will the tenderness Chance shows Brooke bring her back from the edge of feeling lost, lonely and sad?

The past has a funny way of coming back to haunt you even when you are in Homer, Alaska. The FBI are determined to protect Brooke, even if she NEVER calls them back or heeds warnings! It made me crazy! I was yelling at my Kindle, "good god girl, call him back." I guess I can see where she was coming from, trying to move on, but damn... Hello! Sorry I don't want to give it away ... so frustrating not to be able to tell you.

I did NOT see the ending happening the way it did and that made me so happy. I love it when I am sure I have it all figured out, only to be proven wrong... way wrong.

The Darkest Joy is a standalone and one that I just loved!
5 enthusiastic clocks for
Marata Eros, on a beautiful story about, being strong enough to overcome loss, tragedy and coming out on the other side.

Ruined; An Ethan Frost Novel by Tracy Wolff....Reviewed by Dawn

~blurb~
~He’s the last man Chloe Girard should love . . . but the first she ever could.

Ethan Frost is a visionary, a genius, every woman’s deepest, darkest fantasy—even mine. And, somehow, I am his.
He stole into my life like a dream. Turned my reality upside down and made my every desire come true—especially those I never knew I had. He demanded everything I had to give and gave me everything of himself in return.
But dreams don’t last forever, and ours is no exception. Because my nightmares are darker, and my wounds deeper, than I could ever reveal. And as much as Ethan wants to protect me, the secrets we share will only tear us apart.

If I knew (which I should have) that this was a series, I would have waited. Why you ask? Because its so freaking good! If you are not into cliffhangers then WAIT, because we are left with a BIG one! Fear not, book 2 Addicted comes out in June. But back to Ruined....

Chloe, is a sweet good girl, she does well in college, she makes sure all the rules have been followed and things are done exactly the way they should be..OCD? Yes! and she is fine with it. But Chloe also has secrets and they are deep and dark. Secrets that hold her back and paralyze her with fear.

Ethan Frost is the CEO of Frost Industries and every woman's dream man. Rich, powerful, good looking, he cares for the environment, veterans and pretty much any worthy cause he can get behind. And Ethan has taken notice of Chloe. Would his interest lead to something wonderful or something that could destroy the very foundation he wants to build with Chloe?

I was taken with this story from the very beginning. I was laughing, excited and a bit perplexed, all the things that make a great story for me! I absolutely loved the way Ms. Wolff, made these character come to life. I was invested in what they had to say and the repercussions of what was said. I mean, how can you write about the importance of a blender and it makes perfect since? Ethan wants her and makes it clear from the start, but Chloe is dead set against it...work, that is her main objective. This internship means the world to her,so she can help her brother get out from under their ruthless father. Ethan is not giving up, he is making it clear to Chloe, as well as everyone else and its working.

Trust is hard for Chloe, she doesn't give it freely. Even to her best friend/room mate Tori, whom by the way is a freaking riot! So when Chloe, decides she trusts Ethan enough to share her secret with him, that is it for her. She is in love...
One business trip is all it takes for everything to come crashing down. Confused and utterly stunned she sets out to get answers. But what if the answers change everything? What if you are looking into the face of a monster, can you ever move past it?.....

The only thing I can say that bothered me and I mean it was minimal, was Chloe's inner monologue. She did this a lot, sometimes it worked for me and sometime it just seemed to go on a bit.

I was absolutely Ruined by Ruined...and now to wait ... I do NOT do that well...

I am giving Ruined by Tracy Wolff 5 glorious clocks!

Tie Me Down by Tracy Wolff.... reviewed by Dawn

~blurb~

As the only woman on her homicide squad, star investigator Genevieve Delacroix maintains a tough-as-nails attitude that keeps men at arm’s length. She never gives in to her secret fantasies—until she meets a mysterious stranger who teaches her how little control she really has over her mind or her body.

Cole Adams arrives in New Orleans believing Genevieve is his last hope for solving the murder of his younger sister. He just doesn’t expect the hard-bitten detective to look like a blond bombshell. Once he breaks through her inhibitions, he soon finds an unexpected obsession driving Genevieve right to the edge of desire . . . and beyond. But when the serial killer who has been terrorizing the streets of the French Quarter sets his sights on Genevieve, they realize that they both have let down their guard. And losing control can have fatal consequences.

Ok who doesn't love a badass chick as a homicide detective? Well let me tell you Genevieve is exactly that. Gen, is deep into investigating multiple murders as new ones come in. The work of a serial kill? She feels in her gut, but can not convince her chauvinistic lieutenant to believe her. Haunted by the images she has witnessed and the families of the victims, Gen, just wants to forget for one night, enter Cole Adams. But is it random that he picks her up or is there another reason?

His need for control and breaking Genevieve is his new favorite past time. He pushes Gen, to the edge and then sends her flying over into the abyss. Gen, is use to be the one in control and relinquishing to Cole is one of the hardest things she has ever done. She fights him with everything she has, but its not enough, Cole always wins.

I was really interested to see where this story would take me, and I was shocked and surprised by the ending!!! This is a really good Erotic/Suspense story, it has all the drama, suspense and holy hotness sex scenes!!! I have read hundreds of erotic/romance books, and I will gladly put this out there... This book as some of the BEST BJ scenes I have ever read (Chapter 7 to be exact !) Some may find it a bit crude of me to say this, but I am telling you, they are amazing!!!  OK ... so where was I... Oh yeah, it really is a great story...

There were a few things that I could have had less of... fact that every time they had "sexy time" they would scream each others name.. I know its petty, but it drove me nuts... there is a ton of detailed kissing... and lastly, seriously every orgasm was "the most intense/ biggest/earth shattering I've ever had"...Alright we get it.. he had the gift of the "BIG O" ... Again, just a reader preference I think.

If you are not into murder,a man controlling his woman and lots and lots of sex, this is not the book for you. I happen to have really enjoyed it alot!

I am giving Tie Me Down 4.5 clocks!
